We’ve all struggled to understand legalese in small print and T&Cs. It’s a problem for us as consumers. But also for businesses needing to stick to consumer duty rules around clear comms.
There’s a better way.
An MIT study found lawyers actually found it easier to understand legal docs translated into plain English. They found the contracts better quality, said people were more likely to sign them and they were just as enforceable as the jargon-filled versions.
So ditch the fancy words. As long as you keep the meaning, there’s no need to dress up your copy with fancy-schmancy words.
Walking away from the waffle = compliant comms with fewer complaints.
